A blog and more…

Humane Catholic is the extended blog of Fr Craig D’Alton

Here you will find reflections on and examples of liturgy and preaching, as well as blog posts about the sort of ministry I think has the potential to grow healthy churches in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, which is the style of church that I call home.

The title “Humane Catholic” derives from my long-defunct handle on the website Ship of Fools, and a much-neglected Blogspot that I once used from time to time to publish sermons. I originally chose the name to pay some degree of homage to the Anglo-Catholic tradition in which I came to faith, whilst acknowledging that “Anglo-Catholic” in the post-postmodern Church often suggests something rather more conservative than many of the positions I hold. That said, I would not describe my views as being particularly “liberal” either. “Humane” was the word that came closest back then to being the right adjective, and I’m happy still to embrace it today. My prayer is that all that appears in these pages will be both Humane and Catholic in its outlook and tone.
